Honestly, the spreading it around is fine, but they need to get Toney as many touches per game as he can handle. Sure he may break, but he's the best playmaker on the field

I think that's the plan long term, but they're easing him in after missing all of TC.

I'd expect a significant increase in snaps next week.

Absolutely 100% correct, same with Rice.

We're paying MVS $10M to run clearing routes and catch 2 balls a game. If the offense is gonna struggle, at least let the most talented guys we have learn/grow while we struggle.

eh, apparently still up for debate.

Either they're "the worst WRs in the NFL," or they're all budding HOFers. Take your pick.

I dont disagree with this line of thought, in theory.

I just think reality and history with this coaching staff suggests they'll be eased along slower than we may like.

But hey, 2 Super Bowl wins in 4 years, hard to argue with the results.

10 M for a wr is basically 6 mil 5 years ago.

It's not really much anymore.

It's just hard for me to argue against Andy's results doing this stuff. He's been at it for 25 years and the results are the results.

It is when you're paying him $2.5M more than the rest of the WR's under contract COMBINED and all he's doing is Hoovering up valuable snaps and doing nothing with them.

Any doubt that if we gave Rice those snaps he couldn't produce at that level?

Oh wait, he basically already is.

I mean, the guy was basically the MVP of the AFCCG last year, filling a multitude of roles in that game.

But somehow you're still in this "MVS? LOL" mindset because you think he hasn't lived up to his contract when the statistics tell you he did last year.

This.

It's silly, but then again, he thinks everything before week 1 is irrelevant, so I guess by his logic the AFCCG perfomance doesn't matter?

I was told that we couldn't afford 10-12 million to pay a #1 or #2 WR.

680 yards and 2 TD's.

Are we *sure* Rice couldn't do that if given the opportunity?

1 catch for 6 yards in the other 2 playoff games combined.

Interesting thinking that someone should be getting snaps over a promising rookie simply because he had a great playoff game.

It doesn't matter, because as DJ pointed out, Andy is gonna Andy. It's a trust issue, and ironically he's not allowing Rice to gain trust because he won't put him on the field.

Yes, I would wager that Rice - this year - cannot match what MVS does with the route tree he runs. MVS consistently has the highest - or amongst the few highest - average depth of target in the league. This isn't about just replacing yards - it's the routes he runs and the way he threatens defenses.

We signed MVS for a very specific purpose, and he did what was asked of him at a salary commensurate with other players who performed similarly. And then, when we needed him to step outside his box, he did with flying colors in the most important game *I* think this team has played in a long time.
