In the 2011 WS run we had a pitcher throwing 98 and that was considered so fast that most hitters can’t catch up with that speed. Now, they can catch up to a 104 mph pitch if it’s flat.

Hicks fastball isn't flat. Or anything resembling it.
He just has command problems. If he took 5 mph off his stuff and could place it, he'd be Spencer Strider. He just can't hit the glove. If he needs to throw a strike, he can and it's probably a cock-shot. And if he's trying to waste a pitch, it's probably to the backstop. If he's throwing it at the black, god knows where it will end up. It's just a complete inability to command his pitches. The raw stuff is some of the best in baseball history. |

Any changes are gonna be slow coming, IMO. He's just gotta get a different mindset and man, that's awfully tough to ask of a kid that throws shit that works like his does. "Hey, I know you have arguably the most incredible fastball the world has ever seen but...what if you didn't?" We can sit here from our chairs and know that he'd be better of trading velocity for command. But man, if I threw 104 mph with slider movement like he does, I'd be pretty hard to get through as well. And hey, it got him $44 million guaranteed. That's generational wealth, Holmes. Hard to argue with the results... |

Yeah, if you can throw a 100 mph fastball for a strike. You will get generational wealth after your rookie deal. As they should. Baseball has plenty of money. Some teams, like ours just don't like to spend it.

Dropping piss cakes in the urinals around the stadium would be a good job for Mo. especially during the 7th inning stretch.
