Connor Embree - 1st Year WR Coach

Kid better button shit up.

Quote:
Connor Embree returns for his fifth season with the Chiefs and enters the 2023 season as the team's wide receivers coach after spending two seasons as an offensive quality control coach (2021-22) and two seasons as a defensive assistant (2019-20).

Embree again worked closely with the wide receiver corps in 2022 as an offensive quality control coach assisting an offense that led the league in receiving yards (5,250), touchdowns (41) passing first downs (272), receptions of 25+ yards (49) and points per game (29.2). Embree helped develop a new group of veteran receivers (JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson) who accounted for over 20 percent of the Chiefs receiving touchdowns. Smith-Schuster led the team's wide receiver group with 78 receptions for 933 yards and three trips to the endzone. Fifth-year receiver Valdes-Scantling had two regular season touchdowns and a career-high two postseason touchdowns. He stepped up big as the team battled through injuries in the AFC Championship Game, with 116 yards receiving off six receptions, three catches of 25+ yards and one touchdown en route to the team's Super Bowl LVII win.

In 2021, Embree worked primarily with the wide receivers group. WR Tyreek Hill recorded a career high 111 receptions for 1,239 yards en route to his sixth Pro Bowl nomination. WR Mecole Hardman ranked third on the team, recording career highs in catches (59) and yards (693).

In 2020, Embree primarily worked with the defensive backs who featured AP All-Pro S Tyrann Mathieu who led all safeties in the NFL with six interceptions and rookie CB L'Jarius Sneed who showed a lot of potential in the nine games he saw action (six starts). He snagged three interceptions, 2.0 sacks (-19.0 yards) and seven passes defensed.

In his first season with the Chiefs (2019), Embree primarily worked with a linebacking group that accounted for 5.5 sacks and 275 tackles in his role as a defensive assistant. LB Anthony Hitchens led the team in tackles with 88 and was responsible for 2.0 of the unit's 5.5 sacks.

Before jumping to the professional ranks, he spent two seasons on Coach David Beaty's staff at the University of Kansas as a graduate assistant where he gained experience working with the offense and special teams.

He also spent time in the high school ranks as the offensive coordinator at Blue Valley West High School and as the wide receivers coach at Fairview High School.

Embree played wide receiver for the Kansas Jayhawks (2011-13). He also spent one season at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (2010).

Education: University of Kansas (B.S. 2013). Born: Superior, Colorado. Family:Wife - Alex.

College Career as WR
Quote:
2012 (So.): Did not see any game action. KU Record:1–11 (0–9 Big 12)

2011 (RS): Sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules after joining KU from UNLV.

2010 (Fr. at UNLV): Spent the 2010 season at UNLV, but took a redshirt. UNLV Record: 2–11 (2–6 MW)

High School: Was a quarterback as a senior in high school… Played free safety and recorded three interceptions as a junior… Earned second-team all-Eastern Kansas League honors… Was a three-year letterwinner… Also played basketball.

Personal: Born in Superior, Colo… Son of Natalyn and Jon Embree… Has one brother and one sister… Father served as the head coach at Colorado (2011-12), and has made assistant coaching stops at Colorado and UCLA in college football and the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Redskins in the NFL… Brother, Taylor, played football at UCLA… Plans to major in communications… Would like to be a football coach… Main hobby is playing video games.

"They [Veach/Reid] believe they have been sloppy the last couple weeks with the WR's..."

Exactly. He needs a respectable coach to light his ass up and push him to be better.

No one is listening this this ****ing goober and it’s obvious.

You think Toney listens when this little white pipsqueak gives him tips? MVS?

Do you think Skyy and Rice and Ross are learning anything that doesn’t come from Patrick on the field?

Isn't that PRECISELY where Sky's mistake originated today? Trying to do a bit too much?

Yes, but the other two factors aren’t there for him. He doesn’t bring any good to offset that mistake and he isn’t a rookie.

Amazing that there is just no accountability for what a disaster this group is. I’ve never seen anything like it. I can’t imagine there is any other team in football who wouldn’t have fired the WR coach by now. Not one.

But he is making in route adjustments, helping his QB, and has 1.5x production than the two of them combined. He's also the rookie.

We've seen significant snap reduction for Toney and Moore.

Andy is the best coach in the biz. When Hardman comes back their snaps will go down even more.

Richie James is trending up in the offense.

I expect 90% of the targets in the postseason going to Kelce, Rice, Watson, James, Gray, and MVS. Throw in McKinnon and Pacheco out of the backfield. You need a gadget play, Hardman and James and Rice are waiting.

That's got to be who you roll with.

Kelce, Rice, Watson, Gray, McKinnon and Pacheco I totally agree. As for Reid I would ask you this. Did you follow his time in Philly ? If the answer is yes, you know where I am heading. The so called "GOAT" coach in New England has a losing record without Brady. I want to say 140 wins and 181 losses. Something like that. I think Reid is a good regular season coach and he comes up with some crazy ass plays that, when they work, look brilliant. BUT, I am seeing way tooooo many 3 and 1, 3 and 4, 4th and 1, 4th and 3, where he tries the crazy bullshit rather than run behind those 3 hogs in the middle of the line. They are bulldozers. Is Reids "greatness" because of what Mahomes has pulled out of his ass, time and time again ? I was not sold on Reid when he was hired, even after two SB's, I am not sold on Reid. I think KC's greatness falls on three players, Mahomes, Kelce and the Cheetah.

All you limp dick, keyboard bad ass fanboy spare me. I could give a flying _uck about your snark. Everyone has a opinion, none better than someone else. If you don't like mine, simply hit the ignore on User CP. It's easy.
