Drafting Offensive Line

I was told it wasn't necessary. Draft them in the 6th and 7th round and pick up the rest off the bargain bin in free agency. O-Line doesn't matter when you have Mahomes.

Now do you guys understand?

Pat can't do this alone.

Funny enough, I thought this same thing. I keep going back to the thought that the knee was a freak thing and the concussion probably wasn't a concussion. However, freak injuries happen all the time. Even at 25 getting pounded takes a toll on your body. It shortens your career. At some point you have to spend draft capital on offensive linemen when you have a half billion dollar investment at QB. Especially when you have just seen what happens when you trot out scrubs against a very good front four.

OL is by no means the only problem but it is the biggest problem. I think we need, in no order, OL, WR, LB, and a pash rushing DE.

Trade back, get an extra 2nd and 4th. Use some of the 5th rd picks to move up into the 3rd. That gets you 4 picks in the top 100 to get 2 quality OL, a DE and a LB. WR can wait until the later rds or you can usually pick a vet FA for fairly cheap for their 3rd/4th option. It would of been nice to get a comp pick for an EB hiring but apparently he's not impressing anybody and his past from a decade ago still haunts him.

Exactly. This teams fortunes are going to live and die with Mahomes. Keeping him upright is priority number one. You keep him upright by protecting him and opening running lanes. Brady has won 7 because he’s been protected. These injuries Patrick has add up - ask Andrew Luck.

I like this line of thought. This team needs tools, not toys right now.

Credit to TBs linebackers. Those guys are all beasts and by keeping the safeties deep, those linebackers were flying around making plays in the middle zones where Kelce works.

It’s too bad Watkins was a total flop this year...the team desperately needs another weapon out wide.
Need a reliable #2 WR. Hardman doesn't look like he will be it. Kelce is not getting younger either. Hopefully they can address that. Watkins thanks for the last sb but bye.

If we didn't need a Left Tackle I would agree with you. That is the hardest part and it might require a trade up.

If somehow we can get a good LT in free agency them I would sign off on quantity and going for numbers.

I think you can get a quality LT early in the 2nd. Don't sacrifice good because they're not great and don't be afraid to get a guy just because some draft guru says he's "an end of rd2/early 3rd". That would be my 1st pick unless there was absolutely no value at that point.

Getting pressure goes out the window when the other team is up by 2-3 scores. You can’t pin your ears back and rush the passer. And the Bucs ran a lot more.

Guys that can play left tackle seldom escape the 1st round. It's a premium position.

I'll go further. Seldom get a real left tackle past 15th overall. Maybe this year OL is a bit more loaded but we need to move up, not down if we are getting it in the draft.

I disagree. Last year before the knee cap, he was very hobbled up because of an ankle injury from our OL getting blown up (against Indy maybe?).

This year, you could easily argue his toe was because of our OL. For one thing, we would not be running QB option every time we need a first down, if we had a decent OL.

Also, if we want him to play for 15 more years (we do)... then we need to figure out a way to protect him better.

this draft does appear to be loaded in positions of need for The Chiefs, specifically OT.

Also; in a covid year where there isn't going to be a normal combine, and a lot of college teams didn't play or play full seasons, teams that have a stable front office and coaching staff have a huge advantage.

So we're in good position to have a knock-out draft.
