So the Cowboys and Giants have both overpaid their QBs and ****ed their franchises. Only the Commanders and Eagles left to do the same.

It's like some of these teams never learn.

The Cards and Broncos also did dum dum moves.

The Ravens are also ****ed and falling apart internally as they have now created a toxic environment.

Veach is the GREATEST for sure!

Sort of wonder how much of it is being in the NFC. With only really Philly having a better QB, there is going to be hope of getting to the super Bowl with a Jones or DAK. You hate to start a total rebuild when Rogers and Brady both could be gone, and SF having some uncertainty at QB. Further Jones only puts them in short term hell.

I have seen so many posts mostly saying that if Jones is worth $40 million then Jackson is worth so much more. The problem with this line of thought is it starts out on a false premise. Jones' contract would be a reasonable one for Jackson. Jones himself should have never smelled $40 million. Just because the Giants screwed the pooch doesn't mean the Ravens should do the same thing.

That's just the most chickenshit GM work I've ever seen.

Oh no, can't take a chance of only winning 4 games even if it means our ceiling is getting embarrassed in a playoff game here and there.

Both that contract and the Barkley franchise tag are organizational malpractice and proof that this leadership group's gonna get canned before they win anything meaningful.

Are you new to this NFL thing? Outside a handful of teams, everybody in the NFL is just trying to get to the playoffs, not win it all.

The Giants also have a problem nobody else has mentioned: They won two super bowls with Eli Manning.

Their thinking is if they build a great defense and run the ball with an average QB they have a shot.

It's what pisses me off about the defenses of John Mozeliak. "Well he's just doing what his owner tells him to do..."

Then sell him on something different! Get some buy in, buy yourself some rope, do so in an honest manner where you lay out what could go wrong but the upshot of what may go right. Get that support behind you and make the right decision for the long-term future of the franchise.

This cowardly lion shit where they just hide behind their owners skirts and stand for mediocrity doesn't fly for me. High level executives hold significant sway with the guys that sign the checks - IF they have the juevos to use it.

Meanwhile in St. Louis the Blues GM (Doug Armstrong) is gonna have a SHIT team on his hands for probably 3 years. But if he wants to stay for the duration, he will. Why? Because he went to Tom Stillman (the owner) and said "Hey, we can get a really talented, really deep roster and keep it together for 3-4 seasons but to do so we're gonna have to hand out some AWFUL contracts to lower the AAV and stay under the cap. You in?"

Stillman was. They won a cup, they could've won another but the COVID year messed 'em up. They were the only team to give Colorado a real fight last year (**** you again, Kadri). And now they're paying for it. But Army was honest, got his ownership to buy in, and he's safe unless he just doesn't want to be part of the rebuild.

You're one of 32 guys that does this for a living. The LITTLE decisions you make have 7 figure consequences and the big ones cost 9. Nut up and do some actual work. Be a leader. Because brotha I'd take your job in a goddamn heartbeat if you don't wanna do it...

It's sad but the Giants won to many games. Had they just gone 5-11, they could have completely tore it down but nope now they gotta stay the course.

DBAP

Winning 11 games should've EARNED the executive team the rope they needed to take a riskier but far higher ceiling long-term path.

Instead they used it as an excuse to do nothing but tread water.

It's piss poor leadership. They deserve the decade they're about to spend wandering the wilderness. This decision makes me retroactively hate the fact that they ruined NE's perfect season.

The Maras don't deserve nice things.

Again, you're talking ideals, not reality. Teams absolutely SHOULD operate this way but the fact remains that they simply don't.

You're talking about over half the teams in the NFL at this point. Sure, we know what they should do. They just don't do it.

As Chiefs fans, we had to learn this the hard way. And it took THIRTY years still. The NFL isn't going to change, especially not overnight.

Most of those guys just wanna keep their jobs. They aren't gonna just come out and tell you 6 teams are competing for the SB.

If anything they wanna win enough games to keep the fans happy and in party mode, that's it.
