I don't understand what you're saying here. All I'm saying is that doctors shouldn't be providing patients with large amounts of drugs just because the patient asks for them. They're supposed to be the experts and they're supposed to be looking out for their patients' best interests.

This was about preying on an addict for money.

An indictment unsealed Thursday alleges Perry turned to Los Angeles doctor Salvador Plasencia when his regular doctors refused to give him more ketamine. Prosecutors allege Plasencia cashed in on Perry’s desperation and addiction, getting him to pay $55,000 in cash for large amounts of the drug in the two months before his death.

“I wonder how much this moron will pay,” Plasencia texted a co-defendant, according to his indictment.

He pleaded not guilty to seven counts of distribution of ketamine in an appearance in federal court on Thursday afternoon.

Totally agree. Doctors haven't been doctors for a long time now. They go to medical school and then address symptoms as the system dictates and then make as much as they can around that. Being a real doctor is lawsuit central. The system is broken

Well, yeah, there's that.

I've been dealing with a health issue recently, and it's astounding how much information is available on the internet (from reliable sources). There's a ton of science that's really detailed and interesting when you delve into it. But it does lead to a "if this, then do that" system. That works great for straightforward stuff, but I can also see how it could go off the rails if it's not straightforward.

I think having large organizations leading research is great. Having large organizations providing on-the-ground health care is more risky. They have more information and resources, but also more strict policies about "if this, then that."

You're a moron period. You wanted to bring up socialism in medicine, and you are 100000000% wrong, but you still act like you know what you're talking about.

The dumbest thing is that when I read through that and first saw the text from the doctor about how much would this guy pay, I assumed the doctors would be looking at making tens of thousands of dollars every transaction. But no, it’s 4,500 here and 6,000 there. There was one larger transaction but the article said that included back pay for multiple transactions. It’s not nothing money but it is just really dumb for a doctor, presumably making decent money, to risk throwing away his career and license for such little (relatively speaking) amounts of money.

I don’t disagree, but try to guess how many ‘patients’ he might have using a wide array of different pharmaceuticals? I suspect the number is quite high in that zip code alone.

I don't know if you know a lot of doctors or people with PhDs but they can be very stupid so a doctor taking notes on a criminal ****in' conspiracy is totally not at all surprising

How are they making money ? If they are selling it for cash it’s being a drug dealer/ criminal at that point and not worth losing your licence , my wife does not make money on prescriptions for anything and dealing with addicts is a pain in the ass to boot , your system is obviously different than ours but their must be things in place to monitor/track/deter for you guys as well.

I started in the medical field in 1990. All those drugs were locked up at that time. They would pull people off the floor to check them for drug use. Even when you know the risks and see its negative consequences every day, doesn't by itself keep you from becoming an addict.

I was a Respiratory Therapist in a level one teaching hospital. It was a stressful job. You'd think that RT's would know the dangers of smoking. But, more RT's smoke than the general population. A lot more.
