Hypothetically, if you could keep your 503 workers employed under the condition that somewhere between 20-30 of them would be hospitalized and 1-5 of them would die, would you do it?

If the odds are that at least one of them would die even after we shut down, yes.

We already had rules in place for social distancing at work and stringent cleaning every 2 hours. The one engineer that works for me that has it caught it in Vegas at a trade show.

Unless they close down for a whole year in order to wait on a vaccine and all of those employees stay in their houses that whole time, does it matter?

Hell, the doctors themselves are bringing this shit to small towns.

Eventually, it has to run it's course.

Yes it absolutely matters. Keep the hospital’s from m being overwhelmed.

Allow time to build more ventilators. Maybe better treatments will be developed.

That's a terribly thought out response. Because if we had a crystal ball, this would be pretty easy to determine a response.

But since we don't have a crystal ball, we won't know if one of your employees will die even with these measures, so we take extreme measures to provide the best outcome for all citizens. This includes shutdowns so that hospitals do not become overwhelmed, especially when we are seeing that many who recover do in fact need a ventilator for a time to make a full recovery. If ICUs are out of beds, people don't get that chance at recovery.

And this isn't just about deaths. Many who are recovering are showing permanent cardiac and pulmonary damage. This isn't some cold or flu that you recover from and are guaranteed no lasting effects.
