Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

The Kansas City Chiefs who are in need of a cornerback may swap first round picks with the Philadelphia Eagles and acquire CB Nnamdi Asomugha. Asomugha wants out of Philadelphia and would like to play for his former coach Andy Reid.
This site is getting absurd already.

Reid roasted Asomugha in an interview, and now this site wants you to believe that not only does Reid want him again, he wants him at his current salary and to drop 3 spots to get him?

BS.

For a trade to be done, both sides have to agree to the trade parameters.

If I go to a pawn shop and tell em I want a tv that they have and negotiate a price that I want and they don't agree to it...I say, I'll be back...the deal isn't done yet.

I don't see any way that we have up that much for Alex Smith.

Andy Reid flat out said he doesn't want a game manager, he needs a quarterback that goes out and wins games...that's not Alex Smith...let alone trading that much for a game manager.

Something just doesn't smell right.

Either there is another player involved, or we are gonna get a significant pick back in return.
Reid said he wants to find the next Len Dawson. Alex Smith is not the answer.

I wouldn't sign Asamugha if he was a free agent.

It's not likely to be a significant pick, but there is smoke out there that it's a swap of picks. I doubt I'll get any particulars of what's involved before it's announced except for what I posted before that the rumored trade of the 2 picks solely for Smith isn't necessarily true.

Is it at all possible that this is all just a bullshit rumor being used as some bullshit per draft ploy?

I don't see the useable angle, but I'm sure there is one.

The Kansas City Chiefs who hold the number 1 overall pick, reportedly are not blown away with anyone that they feel is worthy of a number 1 overall pick. The Chiefs may trade out of this pick and gain picks or a player.

Hypothetically, if we swap second-rounders and don't extend Smith, all hope is not entirely lost.
