Rule No. 1 - you don't buy guns or accessories just because they look cool. Again, many examples of my inexperienced dumbassery abound in the old gun thread. |

The two crappiest guns I ever owned were an old S&W 39-2 (bought it because it was pretty and chrome plated) and a Stoeger Cougar (Turkish Berreta knockoff). Both were inaccurate pieces of crap.
The lowest quality gun I own now is my little Ruger LC9s. The only time I carry it is when I'm going somewhere that I know I'll have to leave it in the car. I'm not leaving my $1,000 CZ in the ****ing car anywhere. |

I love CZ. I got in on the ground floor and bought two of them before they got pupular when they were only 400 bucks. I sold them last year for over 800 each and bought a m1garand and a springfield armory 1911.

Shoots very similar to the 14 with added punch, while still being a great 100 yard truck gun. Don't go after-market with the mags, though. If they aren't factory Ruger 5 or 20 rounds, they'll be a headache. |

I bought a M1A years ago. Love it, but it is a bear to lug around. Accurate as all get out though. I had a First Sergeant down at Fort Hood in the late 70s who bought a mini 14....dumbass got drunk one night, pissed off his German Wife and she tried to shoot him with it. Damn near succeeded...shot right through a shirt he was wearing. Thankfully, he had his shirt untucked...went right through the bottom of the shirt and into the wall.
He sold it the next day. Never took another drink. Last edited by Randallflagg; 02-11-2018 at 08:42 PM.. |

That one makes me smile....years ago, in a fit of stupid, I bought a S&W SW9M for an ankle holster. Most worthless piece of shit gun I ever owned. God did I hate that damned thing. I thought about selling it, but I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy....damn that thing was junk...it's sitting in my safe where it has been for the last 15 or se years. |

Question, wasn’t the original M14 a .30-06 gun? The newer M1A is .308, correct?

The M1A that Springfield makes for consumer market is available in a 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor Last edited by bigjosh; 02-11-2018 at 10:30 PM.. |

I'm pretty sure the M14 was always in .308/.762. My M1A certainly is.
