Travis really dodged the retirement question. Guess we're to the point where every year we won't really know anymore.

Unless he craters his previous demands, he is absolutely gone in 24... but it will all be handled with class, and allow him to swiftly return for his ROH ceremony when he hangs them up

Its a win/win for all sides that way

Something to remember about man coverage is that it takes a LOT out of your DBs. They're constantly running when you're in man. If you're the 49ers and you already have a thin secondary, you really can't ask your guys to go out there chasing guys for 60 plays. They'll simply run out of gas by the 4th quarter.

No, they're best served to dance with what brung 'em and hope they can include enough wrinkles in there to throw PM off a time or two. They're not going to win this one the way we just beat Baltimore - by simply throttling our offense. They'll have to do some of the hated 'bend but don't break' stuff. They'll have to hope they force a couple red zone FGs and create a couple turnovers along the way.

3 stops, 2 FGs, 2 turnovers. Even THAT leads to 27 points or so presuming they can shorten the game with their run game and make it a 10 possession ballgame.

It's why I say the Chiefs have more paths to winning this game than SF does. The 49ers just aren't going to go out there and force 5 or 6 punts. So they can't let this be a 12 possession ballgame. And even if they get it down to 10 possessions, they have to make sure 7 of those end up with some sort of kick or a turnover.

That's a pretty damn tall order for them, IMO. It's by no means impossible, but it's really the only path forward I think they have. I just don't see them putting this offense on lock-down. They don't have the defensive depth to manage it.
An MVP performance by Nick Bosa and San Fran building an early lead is the way they need this to go.

They have the talent in the right places to make that happen, it just relies on a dice roll with a bit higher odds ("Justin Houston just needs to be a gamewrecker against Brady/Big Ben/Andrew Luck, et al and we just need a two score lead for Alex and we'll be set!").

They did get Super Bowl 54 to go exactly as they needed it to, but we saw how that ended anyway. More just needs to go right for the Niners for them to pull it off, whereas there's many different pathways for KC to win this thing.
