On a related note, I put my trail cams out this week and I'm going to make a couple of mock scrapes in a couple of weeks.
I also am going to spread some oats and turnips on a couple of field edges in strategic places so there will be some greens and roots about Nov 1..... No pics but I have seen 1 really nice deer in the usual place so far. Every year a certain draw on a neighbor is home to a very nice buck. Last year it was a 170sh 12 pt. |

If you're presentable, and only buzzed by Missouri standards which is sober by South Dakota standards, they normally always say yes and generally know of one or two other farmers who give permission over the phone. I've never saved the contact info on the dogs but if you're willing to drive west of the Missouri in South Dakota or into Wyoming I might be able to remember a few names if I think about it for a while. |

Anybody been out yet? Been pretty interesting in my area. Seeing a lot of scrape activity. Probably two weeks ahead of normal in terms of numbers and some are pretty big. Even seeing rubs. Not the usual left overs from getting velvet off. A few good sized cedars really torn up.
Acorns? Yikes. After three years of virtually none the acorn crop and pecan crop is huge Picked a new bow and hope to let it work. Mathews Creed. Shot it, Bowtech, a Ross, and a Hoyt but settled on the Mathews Remember to be safe. Already heard of a couple guys hurt bad in some stand accidents |

Life is getting in the way of my hunting this year.
I got out tonight the first time, saw a couple of spikes and a doe and fawns. I'm getting bobcats on every cam on every farm this year....they're everywhere. |
