True but Brett Favre and Russell Wilson were nowhere near as good as Mahomes is/has been for the past three years. I'm exceedingly confident he'll be back in this position again.

Who knows. They have major flaws in the roster even with Mahomes on a $5M cap hit. What happens when his cap hit goes above $30M? They blew it in 2018 with a terrible defense. This year’s defense was pretty solid, but nowhere near strong enough to offset the offensive line problems.

The OL situation seems more troubling overall. Fisher/Schwartz have been very solid guys, but now suddenly they might be out of the picture. That's a very quick destruction of high quality performance at 2 very important positions on the field. Could be looking at a total rebuilding job across the entire OL. I don't see them fixing that type of thing overnight. Best case scenario is that both Fisher & Schwartz are able to bounce back in a very strong manner and still be a huge part of this team over the next few years. But is this a realistic scenario? I'm afraid it might not be. |

Yup. Also keep in mind he ideally needed to rest his knees a year. Think the chiefs and niang saw a win win in him sitting out. Defer his contract so the clock starts one year later, rest his knees, still give him some opportunity to learn.

I think Niang/Remmers is good enough for RT and swing tackle.
We need to sign a cheap veteran center and we need to draft a left tackle that can start. That's a tall order. |

Now the dust has settled, im a lot more accepting of the fact that we really trotted out dogshit at o-line. Losing fish and Mitch to injury, the literal strength of the line, killed us. Theres no roster in the NFL built to win without their two best tackles and a relatively high draft pick opting out.

And the Chiefs are great at complimentary football...when the offense performs. When it doesn't the defense looks below average. When the defense knows Mahomes can score at will they play better. The left tackle was the final domino that toppled our OL which toppled our offense and then exposed our defense. Fix the OL and we are top dogs again. |

Patrick has had a knee misplaced, a toe that needs surgery and a concussion scare. He’s only 25 and already has all of that.
Perhaps it IS best to load up on OL no that doesn’t mean drafting them in every round. |
