Well that is the circular argument. If there is another team willing to give up a WR for a reasonable amount that fits within what appears to be a very narrow set of criteria for what KC wants. Great.

But yes, some seasons die because of injuries. Panic moves aren't a great way to have long term success.

I still can’t believe we lost Rashee Rice for the season because Patrick Mahomes threw a pick and then dove into his knees.

You simply cannot make that up and that more than makes up for all the good injury luck we’ve had during our run imo.

It really bums me out.

To make matters worse - and I know fantasy football means absolutely nothing to anyone - but I had Rice this year as my 3rd WR and after week 1 he was being ranked as a top 5 WR. It was a home run pick. I'm salty still.

Once he does, I think he keeps all three active and demotes Steele. We're going to out-Raven the Ravens and become a run first offense. With that strategy, JJSS, Worthy, Watson, Kelce and Gray are more than enough for the passing game.

TL/DR: barring another injury, I don't think Veach is signing a WR.
JJSS has durability issues - he won’t be able to take the amount of snaps he needs to to be our #2 over the long haul. Watson is at best a #4 and Hardman at best is a #3. Skyy should be sweeping the concourse after the game. Maybe Washington or Remigio can step up but we definitely need someone. Whether that’s MVS or a trade. Kelce who is older than JJSS I don’t think can take a heavy load thru the season and still be effective come playoffs.

My biggest guess is that Steele will be used as trade bait. With CEH, Perine and Hunt carrying the workload.

What would Steele even bring in a trade? Cam Akers just got traded for a 6th round swap, so I can't imagine it be anything better than that.

Oh I was thinking it would lower the price of a draft pick for a WR or earn a draft pick in return. Carolina looks like the could use a good RB and if it meant Sending a 4th or 5th in exchange for Johnson (instead of an 3rd) and possibly a 5th or 6th back. That’s a win.

This is why going "all in" is always a bad idea. Random things like that happen and suddenly it all comes crashing down. Recklessly sacrificing the future on a hope is foolish when there is no guarantee of it working. This is especially true for a team like this who absolutely does not "need" to do it.

I don’t think anybodys saying we need to go “all in.” Just that we can take a chance or two. there are way more uncertainties in the future. What if we’re saving up for a future that doesn’t include Andy Reid or features a massively regressed mahomes. I’m not saying that will happen, but it is way more uncertain tomorrow than it is today.

I trust Andy to not let someone new screw it up. We’ve seen with guys like shady McCoy and leveon that if they don’t work, we aren’t going to use them. It’s all upside. There is such a low bar a sub has to clear. So while we may be fine without changing, if a move allows you to upgrade from a bad piece to a halfway decent one, is a small extra hurdle down the road all that bad? It’d be one thing if we’re talking about subbing average for great. We’re talking about replacing bad with “not bad.”

Man I really hope not. I think perine is easily the most expendable while CEH is the most tradable. It’ll be one of those two. I can’t see us giving up a cheap young 3 year piece to save a vet with 1 year left. Steele may be less useful now but he is a future piece for us
