Getting old sucks

The older you get the less you can trust a fart to not turn into a shart.

I started a health regiment 2 weeks ago to get the first 30 pounds off and then things get better quickly. I'm down a lot so far. I want to play golf, go hiking and traveling and other things that have become difficult to impossible.

I feel like I lost 3 years of my life and don't want to continue.

I was in a healthcare facility a while back and there was an ancient looking guy in there. He had a t-shirt that said something like, "I think senility is going to be a pretty smooth transition for me." I laughed out loud.

I have found the total gym to be good at helping maintain the lean that I have at age 59. You might be able to build with it at a younger age, but that is not my objective. Best thing is, you can jump on anytime you feel it, bang out a couple sets, and go back about your business. No rules, just jump on pump a few sets move on. Better than atrophy. And it helps when the Chiefs do something stupid like that Pic at the endzone. Pump the negative adrenaline out.

Slightly above TRT level. Just 300ml T per week. Keeps me around 1500.

I also walk for at least 15 minutes at a moderate pace after every meal (the middle of night snacks are an exception.)

That helps eat more food more often.

It’s at the very base of my thumbs, yeah near the wrist.

Doctor prescribed these hard plastic braces that hold the thumb in the ideal position to keep the bones from touching.

I would wear them to sleep but too clunky for working on computer during the day. It was the worst when I was remodeling a room. Doing framing, drywall, electrical etc.

Hasn’t been so bad now that’s over.

This. My wife and I recently quit Orange Theory. These are coach led classes that really challenge and motivate you. It's a great workout, don't get me wrong, and there are plenty of people at that place who are older than me. But for me, it's just getting to the point where treadmills and rowing machines just...suck. Add to that the very expensive fees and well, it's time to try something new. We've been there for 7 years, so I've certainly learned a lot, Now I need discipline and will to do it on my own.

So...my goal is weight training and walking\jogging 4-5 days a week, and we'll see how it goes. Also...stretching and yes...yoga. I know a couple of fellas my age who swear by it. I do know that weight training is key the older you get. I'm pretty happy with my muscle mass and I think I look pretty good, except the gut which just seems to be a part of me these days...

The Utes won’t do much while Whit is the head coach. He can’t make adjustments outside of his game plan. I can still enjoy 8-9 win seasons and a decent bowl game annually, but the talk of the playoffs seemed like a reach.

Yeah, getting old sucks.
Forgetting is a gift from God.

I watched a doc a year or 2 ago about these 4 people that remember everything about every single day of their lives. They can tell you what happened 20 years ago a week before their birthday.

They have almost no friends and all 4 were suicidal...

I was diagnosed pre-diabetic 15 years ago. told myself, no biggie, I can change shit up. I never did, obviously. fast forward to Thanksgiving of last year, doc said "why don't you try the dexcom 7 patch/receiver". so I did! down 40 pounds and generally feeling much better. no drugs, no new exercise. just knowing what I was eating, that was causing issues. just had a checkup last month. doc says "whatever you are doing, you're levels are at pre-diabetic levels!! keep it up".
I think I recall a post that Buck had "sugar is killing us, and is in everything" or something like that. its' amazing what's in our food and how horrible we are eating as a society.
