Aiyuk to the Steelers?

Seems to be a lot of buzz around the Steelers finalizing a trade for Aiyuk.

They did but the same exact amount they offered him months ago. They told Aiyuk you are not a #1 WR to us. This is all we will pay you, take it or leave it. He didn't leave it.

Alyuk is not worth that deal. Not even close. Hill got that same amount when he left for Miami.

Doesn't matter.

We have Mahomes so our brains are broken. The Patriots had Brady, theirs was too.

For the VAST majority of teams, they're looking at a window of maybe 3-5 years before everything falls apart. And when they pry that window open, they absolutely have to win one in there or it's a failure.

If there was a chance for them to close that window a little in exchange for them keeping it open for another 3-4 years, sure - do that.

There ain't. That team's in trouble in 2-3 years either way. They have aging stars who aren't likely to age terribly well in Williams, Kittle, Deebo and McCaffrey. Those guys have maybe 2 years of high-end play left (and that's presuming good health).

The 49ers have to push their chips in and hope they get a ring. They know the runway is getting shorter but there's nothing they can do about it. If they slam on the brakes now, all they'll do is skid off the end of the runway in a cloud of smoke. At best, they mitigate the damage when they hit the hanger, but they're hitting the hanger.

All they can do is hit the gas, hope they get off the ground and get in the air before the damage is done. Because flags fly forever. If they win a 'ship and then go 0-17, all will be foregiven.

After them no one makes any money and there's some solid role guys and alot of scrubs..what do you think happens when they pay Purdy?
Purdy's money isn't likely to really impact them (if it happens at all) until 2027.

They have this year and next pretty much fully intact. That's better than 90% of the league can ask for.

Again, nobody else has it as well as we do. Few teams EVER have.

The 49ers are just living in the same reality as the rest of the league.

One of those articles on The Athletic made a good point.

The WR market isn't acting like the QB market where every very good player re-sets the market. Lamb didn't. St. Brown didn't. Aiyuk didn't.

Chase might but the rest haven't. Jefferson capped it and Aiyuk operated under that cap. That's...reasonable.

I don't think anyone told anyone to **** off here. This was the market just doing what a market does.
