Corporate buzzword for the Chiefs this year "The Formula"

Last year was "United"

What's the meaning behind this? I'm sure Mark Donovan will enlighten us all on The Franchise in two weeks.

Baby formula to give to all the haters that will inevitably be crying that the refs helped the Chiefs anytime they throw a flag on the other team while they are on their way to a three peat.

There is not a FORMULA. The Chiefs got lucky they drafted the next Brady pure and simple. Reid is good as a coach but even he needs Mahomes.

Quit with this revisionist bullshit. The dynasty was strategic and cumulative mastery by the smartest men in the NFL. Luck my ass.

Lucky is passing on your HOF QB 6 times and deciding to take a flyer on a guy at pick 199.

Lucky is already having a future HOF QB that you drafted at #1 overall years ago who gets injured towards the end of his career, and you just so happen to be bad enough in a year when the best QB prospect SINCE that guy went #1 overall is entering the NFL.

Lucky is plucking an arena leaguer who was bagging groceries, your starter gets hurt, and he ends up being a HOF QB who wins your pathetic franchise its first Super Bowl in spectacular fashion

And yes, lucky is taking a veteran from a franchise run by defensive meatheads who don't know good QB play, and turning him into an MVP QB who takes you to the Super Bowl.

You know what's not lucky?

Already having a top 15 starting QB and a team that continually makes the playoffs, and then deciding to use two 1st round picks to go get a different QB in the draft when a lot of pundits think he's too raw and undisciplined to be a pro. Seeing an opportunity in front of you and elaborately crafting a plan over several months to find a way to take advantage. Making moves because you trust the incredibly amount of scouting work you've done, not because the situation or the time demands that you make those moves.

The Chiefs weren't lucky with Mahomes. They were smart.

How is it lucky to trade up to get the guy you really want?

This wasn't an afterthought which led to luck, it was researched, calculated, and executed.

Fortunate is a better description.

A lot of potential franchise QBs get wasted playing for pure shit organizations... hell, Brady won those early Super Bowls with QB ratings in the mid-80s or barely topping 90. Does he even make it in the league if he's not on a team that can at least compete in the playoffs without him, or even worse on some shit franchise?

Similar with Mahomes... he doesn't get the rookie QB SB win and experiences on a far lesser team, so who knows how those dominoes fall later. And if you have a shit GM who overpays for Tyreek or whatever, that shit matters.

I'm the first person to summarize the NFL as a QB league far over anything else, but Mahomes had to develop into the QB he is today to continue winning Super Bowls and that isn't ALL on him.
