Put on a few pounds and I can actually see it. He does resemble him a bit but can he pull off that voice.

Nicolas Cage is the best actor that ever existed. Even better than Jared Leto and Shia LeBouf.

So who would be a good Madden as I don't really see Ferrell as either.
As a young man who remembers the old AFL I hated that fat **** along with Marv Hubbard. I don't even get why a movie needs to be made about him. I realize he mellowed as he went into the booth but he and Summerall bored me. It was a Sunday afternoon nap for me after out partying hard. Never been a gamer so Maddens football game never held any interest to me. So what is it that makes him movie worthy? Enlighten me. |

RIP John Goodman, what a shame he would have been perfect John Madden.

Reading more about this movie, the director focuses on the 60s and 70s his coaching years.
So it makes a little more sense on the acting choice. Madden as a couch wasn't anything like his folksy announcing days. As a coach, he was kind of an animated dickhead on the sideline. He coached up his players to inflict pain and cheap shots were a specialty. |
