There's got to be more to this story, but the fact that they tried and convicted a 64 year old black woman for this tells me it was more than just some mistake on her part. I don't know what Chris Jones is paying for, but it's not to get her out of jail. It must be to pay back the school for their loss.

No, he literally is attempting to pay it off to get her out of jail. It's stupid & of course it doesn't work that way otherwise people would just start robbing banks & when they get caught just give the money back & walk away.
