Veach has been pretty forthright on that one.

They panicked. They had a couple guys they liked with 3 picks left, both guys went, they wanted a DE and he was the next DE on the board. My memory is that the guy they really wanted was Josh Jackson and the Packers sniped him just ahead of us. When that happened they just thought "well crap, the DE pool was bad to begin with so we'd better get one soon" rather than go strict BPA.

He's called it a mistake and he appears to have learned from it.

Oh, and interesting side note to all that - Josh Jackson also sucked. And the Chiefs even signed him to the practice squad a time or two.

So in the end, whatever happened, they were gonna take a bad football player. And man oh man was that a bad year to be looking for defensive line help. Payne, Vea (both went in the top 15) and then a big ol' pile of meh. Guys like Bilal Nichols and Sam Hubbard were the best the Chiefs could've realistically pulled from that draft. Hell, Nnadi was probably one of the 10 best DL to come out of that draft and he's hot garbage.

Frankly it was just a shit draft. We couldn't have picked a better year to have dumped our 1st rounder the following season than the 2017 draft.

Would it surprise you to know that I was an outspoken critic of that pick?

I suspect it wouldn't....

No, I got into the 'talk myself into a draft pick' game with MEH and I'm not doing that again.

I'd rather be loudly wrong than second guess myself at this point.

I didn't see anything on tape. I couldn't get why he was a projected second rounder.

Then I watched Steve Smith break him down and he talked me into it.

I'll never listen to a ****ing thing that guy says about a prospect ever again.

I just remember thinking "Wait a minute - what makes this guy better than De'Anthony Thomas?" and getting fairly well excoriated for it.

Well fellas, De'Anthony had 65 catches for 509 yards in his career. Skyy is at 43 for 494...

If this is where it ends (and nothing I've ever seen from his suggests it shouldn't be) then DAT had a better career than our boy.

But going forward I suspect we'll be drafting traits at WR. Be big, be strong or be fast. Bring something.

Skyy just doesn't.

It’s cool that you were right about Skyy Moore and won’t shut up about it, but do I need to remind you how wrong you were about Frank Clark? Postseason legend, edge setter, one of the best coverage LBers in a generation as judged by PFF. You owe that man an apology.

I love you, but every single time you bring up that asshole. I pray to whatever god will listen, that they will curse you. With forever stubbing your little toe on the coffee table. Every single ****ing time you walk in the same room as it

Well, I think Moore's biggest liability seems to be between his ears. He just doesn't seem to 'get it'.

Oh he is amazing in the draft. He does have some picks that don’t pan out, but the amount that he hits on based on when KC picks is nothing short of incredible. I also think his trade for Brown Jr. is under appreciated.
