Chiefs chasing history

The Chiefs have been highly successful for a while now and are approaching some NFL records. Some are so obvious that we're all already aware (such as potentially winning a 3rd consecutive Super Bowl.) Others are less well known, so I thought we should have a thread to track some of these records we're chasing.

The Chiefs have won 7 consecutive postseason games and that is tied for 3rd all-time with the Browns, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, and Broncos. The Packers are 2nd with 9, and the Patriots are 1st with 10. Those streaks can be interrupted by a season or more in which the team did not make the playoffs.

The Chiefs uninterrupted 7 game winning streak in the postseason is tied for 1st all-time with the Browns, Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, and Broncos. If the Chiefs win 1 playoff game this year, they will hold the record by themselves.

The Chiefs have made the playoffs 9 consecutive seasons and that is tied for 2nd all-time with the Colts and Cowboys. The second longest current streak is held by the Bills at 5. The record is held by the Patriots at 11.

The Chiefs have 6 consecutive seasons with at least 1 playoff win which is tied for 2nd all-time with the Cowboys and trails only the Patriots who did it 8 consecutive seasons.

The Chiefs have won the AFC West 8 consecutive times. No other AFC West team has won the division more than 5 consecutive times. The next best streak would be the Raiders who won the AFL/AFC West 9 times in 10 years. I believe the Chiefs are 2nd all-time in consecutive division titles to the Patriots who won the AFC East 11 consecutive times.

Please chip in with others.

The difference is that with very few one-off exceptions, every team in the AFCE other than the Patriots was garbage for 20 years. The same cannot be said for the AFCW.

Remember that they are doing this all in an era with a salary cap.

This 100%. There have only been two dynasties in the salary cap/free agency era, and that is the Patriots and Chiefs. All the others should have a permanent asterisk next to their numbers in the record books. None of them are nearly as impressive as NE and KC.

Having a permanent asterisk next to their numbers in the records books will never happen, do you see Patriots having an asterisk during their Superbowl wins for cheating? No

Obviously there will never actually be an asterisk in the record books.

This one really makes me smile. We had so many years chasing one win without success.
