ESPN: Mahomes the 18th best athlete of the 21st Century

https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id...s-21st-century

1. Michael Phelps
2. Serena Williams
3. Lionel Messi
4. Lebron
5. Mr. 18-1 Tom Brady
6. Roger Federer
7. Simone Biles
8. Tiger Woods...
18. Patrick Mahomes

Quote:
In the end, we received more than 70,000 votes from ESPN contributors to create our top 100. We will reveal 25 athletes every day this week until we reach our No. 1 athlete of the 21st century.
I would have ranked Mahomes a bit higher, perhaps in the top 15. Also hilarious that Brady couldn't even manage to crack the top 3.

It's close. If they played 1 on 1 right now, LeBron might squeak by and beat him.

Wrong on so many levels. It's an extremely mental game without question, but that has to be accompanied by physical talent fused to the mental part with nano seconds margin of error.

Saying you can hit a golf ball is like me saying I can throw a football or kick a soccer ball. So what!

Connor McDavid #98?

Dude is literally the most dominant hockey player since Mario Lemieux. Should be top 10, except he's white and ESPN hates hockey.

Nah, federer was better though novak has time to change that though not likely. Federer had a way better peak and federer got to clean up after federer and nadals peak. 4 straight years at #1 for Federer is absolutely absurd performance.

The only basketball player that has any argument over Mahomes is James. All the rest are insulting.

Yeah, I mean... I definitely think baseball players are athletes. But is peak pujols who played a defensive position that doesn't ask very much all that different from a golfer? What about John kruk who was an elite hitter for a stretch of time. If this list was released before pujols' plummet I don't think anyone would have issue with putting him high on the list.

the argument looks way different when mahomes is in the back end of his career. The biggest thing holding him back on this list is age.
