But his playoff resume these last handful of years makes him absolutely irreplaceable. He's hit EVERY kick we needed him to in so many big moments that wouldn't BE big moments if not for him - like the 13 seconds game. That was no chip shot. The crazy thing is, they were mostly afterthoughts before the kick and after he nailed it. I think that speaks to how valuable he is. Similar to Tucker, where people would be shocked if they miss, and Tucker hasn't done it like Butt in the playoffs year after year.
At the end of Super Bowl regulation, it's a short field goal and a gimme. But if he misses it and it becomes a nightmare that haunts us to our dying days. Definitely keep Butker. Not saying at "any" cost but don't mind paying a significant premium.

Never sign a punter to a large contract. That position is just a formality, with our offense. But, definitely keep Butker. He is worth his weight in gold. The Patrick Mahomes of kickers, if you will. I don’t need some Tyler Bass reject shanking an important kick in the playoffs.

The position WAS a formality, with our offense A FEW YEARS AGO.

I mean, it was kindof a formality THIS year given the strength of our defense.

Put 'em at the 40 instead of the 30...who cares? Spags and the boys got this...

For those of us who lived through the 'he who shall not be named' game, Butker is worth it.
