Should the Chiefs look at S Minkah Fitzpatrick as a CB?

So I've come around to the idea that we might need to address the CB situation sooner rather than later.

In that vein, I was wondering what we think of S Minkah Fitzpatrick of the Miami Dolphins.

6' 1" 200 lbs.

2018 stats
80 tackles
9 pass defended
2 INTs

I know, he's listed as a safety. But last year, out of 1,000 snaps played, he actually played over the slot and on the boundary in nearly 700 snaps. And when he was targeted, he allowed just a 51% completion rate, and a QB rating of only 49%. Okay, 49.7%.

And while he's still got 3 years to go on his contract, he looks cheap, at about 3-4 million/year.

Maybe a solid possibility?

Please don’t hold your breath. You actually do seem nice.

Well, I guess that blows my theory out of the water. Lol. Maybe that was a little wishful thinking on my part.

Spoiler alert, you're going to be surprised. Unless you have a very loose definition of soon.

Arrowhead Pride defensive analyst Craig Stout talks about how Minkah would fit in with the Chiefs HERE. Sounds very promising tbh. The question Veach has to ask himself is are there corners in the next draft who are better than Minkah and would be available late in the round? Because we all know all the quality guys will be taken early without question. Minkah at least has NFL experience with four years left on his deal so how could we lose?

Minkah's going to be a lot better and lower risk than anyone you could get at #32.

Which is why the Dolphins will get an offer that’s superior to the #32

Maybe. But guys fall in the draft all the time. Also, the guys picked higher aren't always the best. We had a pretty good tandem a few years ago with Flowers and Carr, neither of which were a first round pick. Chris Harris Jr was a UDFA. Richard Sherman wasn't a first round pick either. Unfortunately, neither Dorsey, nor Beach have had success drafting cornerbacks, so unless they plan on hiring Herm Edwards to pick a corner in the draft for us, then Fitzpatrick is probably the best use for next year's first. As a fan, I hate not having a pick in the first round, but, it may be the best thing to do.

Eh, maybe. If that's the bar they're going to set, then they really aren't interested in trading him. He's good, really good, but he's not the second coming of Darelle Revis or Ed Reed.

If they really are trying to tank, they'll take a second rounder for him.

Absolutely have to go after Fitzpatrick. How many times are we going to see the secondary blow a 3rd and long in a big game? As it stands now, zero chance the current stable of CB's can match up with AB, Gordon, and Edelman. Probably going to cost a first and a late round pick.

Where are we getting the 32nd pick from? No way Belichick trades us the 32nd pick.
