Fantasy Football Talk- 2017

Let's make a thread to shit talk and talk in general about this fantasy football season.

I myself have a hard time locating some good research materials and for one, don't want to spend a shit ton of time on it. By making this thread, I am actually spending more time on this fantasy football season than I usually do.

I have printed off some depth charts for WR and RB, which I think will help with the live draft and choosing players in mid to late rounds.

Anything else you guys keep handy for the live draft?

Post your teams and leagues here after drafting.

Good luck!!!

Dodged injuries in all my leagues this week.

Actually won in my main (superflex) league even with Luck sidelined. If I had started Diggs over Emmanuel Sanders I would have won the week high points money. Any win I get while Luck is sidelined and I start Smith and a standard flex feels like a steal.

Putting waiver request in for Tarik Cohen in all leagues.

So I'm debating whether or not to make a run at Cohen in my PPR league.

Here's my team.

QB: Mariota, Stafford
RB: Elliott, Powell, Hunt, Abdullah, J. Rodgers
WR: A.J. Green, Hopkins, Moncrief, Parker, Zay Jones
TE: Delanie Walker
K: Lutz
DEF: Eagles, Steelers

The Eagles play the Chiefs (obviously) and the Steelers play the Vikings. I could drop the Eagles but they have a couple of games upcoming that I'd like to use them for. I'm sure Cohen will cost a bunch to get but it'd be nice to not have to scramble for a RB when Rodgers gets put back on the bench for Martin.

I put a waiver wire request in for Cohen in all three of my PPR leagues. I absolutely would, especially since the Bears desperately need pass catchers now. I would rather have Cohen then Zay Jones or the KC defense. I generally feel like I can get a decent WR anywhere (especially in PPR), so I am lean more on building a good stable of RB's, then good backup WR's.

We started a system some years ago where we still give a cash prize for best HTH record but play-offs are based on scoring.Example in a 14 team league if you had 2nd high points of the week you would've been awarded 13 points and teams below you 12,11,10,9 etc.

Those points accumulate week to week and however many teams you decide go to play-offs earn their way via that scoring system.

HTH match-ups are still important but you're also playing against all teams as well.

In our opinion FF is about scoring points there is no true HTH when you're using players from all the teams.

Waiver wires...

Who are you all putting in waiver wire requests for this week?

As discussed a couple posts above, I have Tarik Cohen as my #1 waiver wire.

In my main league, I also put in a request for the Jaguars defense. They are absolutely loaded with talent, which has been poorly coached for years, and they added a few more key pieces this offseason. They looked GREAT against Houston. And, the games should be slowed down for them with a new-found ability to run the ball with Fournette. Their D looks legit. Not many defenses I would rather have then them.

I put in a 3rd waiver for Chris Thompson, since we are PPR and return yards count, but will only get him if I miss out on Cohen.

There are some good receivers, but I have a shorter bench this year so I guess I'm not making the plunge. Certainly Kupp and Golladay are attractive though. But, would you drop any of my players for them? ( 14-teamer )

QB - Smith, Luck, Brissett ( super-flex league )
RB - Gordon, Gurley, Abdullah
WR - Nelson, Sanders, Watkins, Diggs ( with Taylor Gabriel already in waivers to drop )
TE - Rudolph

The pick of Luck is hurting me since I am holding onto Brissett, but he has looked really good in limited action with the Patriots, so he is probably worth holding for a couple weeks until Luck gets back. In this league, if I drop him, he would be picked up in an hour.

Good question.. thanks for forcing me to think about it a bit more.

I don't think Kerwinn has as large a portion of the work as expected, and David Johnson will be back at some point. I think Cohen is the more talented back, and I wasn't ever completely sold on Jordan Howard either. And I just see more of a need for playmakers in Chicago I guess. I think the Cardinals just lean on their wide receivers more, where the Bears can't.

The injury to Woodhead may have opened the way to those of us in deep leagues.Yes it's an out of the box maybe but I found Flacco's comment to be very interesting.

Joe Flacco mentioned Michael Campanaro as someone who could step up and fill the void created by Danny Woodhead.

Analysis: "Campanaro is one of those quick little guys that can do stuff on the side," Flacco said. It's an out-of-the-box suggestion, but the quarterback would seem to have a good idea of the team's thought process. Campanaro is a 5'9/191 slot receiver who has struggled to get on the field since being a 2014 seventh-rounder. The Ravens clearly like him since they've kept Campanaro around this long as a punt returner and part-time receiver. He has a similar build to 5'8/201 Woodhead and played running back in high school. Buck Allen is the favorite, but he was a 2016 outsider. Campanaro could very easily get increased looks.

Added Campanaro in both leagues.

Cohen went for 20% of FAAB in one league; redditors claiming they were willing to put up 30%+.

Well, won't you use most your FAAB at the beginning of the year anyway, when we are discovering what new schemes, new teams, and new players can do? It doesn't seem like 20% FAAB is too far off to me.

I didn't get Cohen in my main league, due to waiver priorities, but got him in two other leagues I am helping in.

Just snagged Chris Carson to stash for some weeks and see if he emerges.
