Amid all the buzz about offensive playmakers and young studs following the first week of preseason action, one of the most impressive defensive units slid mostly under the radar. The Denver Broncos' front dominated the Seattle Seahawks' beleaguered offensive line on Friday night, compiling seven sacks by seven different players, including Von Miller's strip sack of Russell Wilson on just the second play from scrimmage. "I think (the Seahawks) really found out that they had some problems to answer,'' said Broncos defensive end Kenny Anunike, via ESPN.com. " ...Because you can't block us all. That's a testament to Coach Wade's defense in the 3-4. It gives you the ability to disguise, so you can disguise the pressure. You never know who's coming.'' Wade Phillips' defense created havoc all night against the Seahawks.
Yes, Seattle has issues to settle along the offensive line, but that shouldn't slow the optimism that Denver could deploy a dominant defense in 2015. Heck, DeMarcus Ware didn't even play and they still notched seven sacks. We've been big Shane Ray fans since he fell to Denver in this year's draft. The rookie displayed a motor and speed that should be dangerous for quarterbacks. Ray's addition to the rotation should keep the Broncos' pass rush flowing more evenly throughout contests this season. The Broncos' offense with an injured Peyton Manning got all the focus when they bowed out of the playoffs last year, but an impotent pass rush that didn't disrupt Andrew Luck all game deserved partial credit in the implosion. With Ray in the rotation and a more pressure-friendly scheme under Phillips, the Broncos pass rush should be beastly and could carry Denver deep into January. |

The Seahawks have had offensive line issues for quite some time and just traded away Max Under.

If I was the Broncos' pass rush coach, I'd be telling the players on the sideline, "Imagine that the quarterback just stole a shipment of your drugs."

Manning will continue to be one of the least sacked QBs in the league because he gets the ball out so quickly, but their offensive line will be the death of them come December/January.
