Let's talk about the 49ers (Super Bowl Edition)

Well Chiefs vs Packers is what I had hoped for, but that's not happening.

Let's talk about Chiefs vs 49ers here.

They play the same basic scheme. The Jags aren't as good at LB as the 49ers, though Myles Jack is the best out of the two groups. 49ers have more depth. At the time, Jacksonville still had Ramsesy and Bouye lined up outside, an elite CB tandem. DL were similar in overall talent, with a depth edge to the 49ers.

The Chiefs cooked that defense for 40 points despite losing Hill about 10 snaps into the game and Mahomes having his original ankle sprain happen in the first half.

The Jags' overall personnel at that time surpassed the Chargers (similar bookends, better corners, better cover LB). The only real difference was that the Chargers have Derwin James and no one else does.

Tartt is going to need to have a Derwin James-like impact against KC for the 49ers to really hope to significantly slow the Chiefs O on Sunday, IMO.
And it was Week 1. The Jaguars had every reason to give it their best shot at the time. They did get pressure on Mahomes and plenty of hits on him. But the Jags secondary got lit up like fireworks on July 4th.

Take away the middle of the field vs Jimmy and he pees himself.

Garoppolo had the worst EPA per attempt in the NFL on throws targeting outside receivers.

If the Chiefs are able to take away the 49ers’ slot receivers and tight ends, Garoppolo will have to do something he hasn’t done well all season: Throw to receivers on the perimeter. On those plays, Garoppolo averaged -0.13 EPA per attempt and produced a success rate of just 42.6%. The first number ranked dead last. The second number ranked second-to-last. Not good.

Yeah, the first game the Rams came.out trying to run the ball down our throats to stop the pass rush. Saleh adjusted the defensive line slant and switch to two gapping on running downs and that was that.

The second game they didn't even try to run, the just rolled Goff out over and over. That worked a lot better.

Jonnydel on YouTube has some great breakdowns

McVay showed them a moving pocket, they are really bad when the QB's are not on the single stationary QB platform in the middle of the pocket. Even designed rollouts completely **** with their defense.

Everyone tried to tell you Ford was a bad bet for a huge contract- but you went on for days wanting the Chiefs to make him the highest-paid defender in the NFL.

Joke. You called that shit in spades! Ford is a brokedick and won't have an impact in this game unless they break out a piano, then he plays a lullaby to put Mahomes to sleep.
