Dallas mayor trying to lure the Chiefs to North Texas?
Doubt Jerry would allow this…

I'm certain non KC residents have poked their head into the DC forums and decided to never come to KC thinking the entire city is homophobic conspiracy theorists on meth. I'm not into censorship but I feel like a good argument could be made for not having that trash on an NFL forum.

I haven't read the entire thread so apologies if someone else has mentioned this, but it seems like it would be foolish to move the Chiefs to Dallas. It would be very similar to the Chargers moving to LA. The people in LA are not Chargers fans and probably never will be. They are an afterthought in a town that roots for either the Rams or the Raiders.

But it seems impossible to see Jerry Jones allowing that to happen. And Clark is very aware of his father’s legacy… the idea of moving the franchise back to the city that essentially ignored/rejected his father’s team… even if it was in a different era… can’t see that ever happening. Just a few among the MANY reasons why this move will likely never happen. |

Financial benefits are also not that easily measurable. You lose what, 70% of your massive fan base? Probably have to rebrand with a new name...suddenly you're basically the Chargers. What are the downstream effects of that? |

If he moved the entire franchise for $1 more he would be insane. It is a business, but it's not JUST a business.

People continue to grossly overestimate the difficulty of moving a pro sports franchise. As if $1 is all it would take.

The repeated Chargers comparison isn't applicable here.
Angelinos are trained to look down on San Diego. Absent a shiny new destination like Sofi, no one was trekking to East LA to watch some San Diego schmucks. |

Yes, and I'm trying to lure Sofia Vergara to New Mexico.

The word is he wants a stadium that rivals Allegiant and only Texas can give him that.

Fair point. A brand new team name located somewhere that isn't L.A. would benefit from an initial burst of locals adopting as their own in a way that would probably be much better than the reception the Chargers got.
