Bought a 2 disc remastered release yesterday, of GnRs Appetite, plus a second disc with a bunch of unreleased versions of various songs and covers like this one... been rediscovering their greatness
Tomorrow night, going to see Joan Jett open for Foreigner at the Illinois state fair Foreigner have some great songs and it will be cool, but its really Joan I cant wait to see, the buddy I'm going with watched her open for Cheap Trick and Heart in St Louis last year... said she blew both of them off the stage, couldnt understand why she opened for either of them Said the place went absolutely apeshit when she ripped into I Love Rock n Roll But yeah, this and other stuff will be enjoyed as well |

Good lord what a show, it was two and a half hours of nonstop hits
Joan was Joan, just as raw but tight as she was back in the day, her lead guy used a little bit of crybaby pedal on one song and she used a little bit of chorus pedal here and there... but otherwise it was straight up no frills rock n roll She is teeeeeeny tiny, basically a midget, I doubt she is even 5 foot... but her voice sounds just like the radio versions, strong as hell Foreigner, what can I say... there wasnt a single original member onstage, the only one still with them, lead guitarist Mick Jones, has been absent from several recent shows including this one That said, wow man, they simply sounded incredible, you might remember their new singer Kelly Hansen from an 80s hair band called Hurricane (watched them open for Stryper back in the day)... let me tell you, THAT guy can belt that shit out I was amazed at his energy, dude was dancing and running around like hell, yet hit every single note with serious power No way old Lou Graham can match the younger guys intensity, just like Joan, everything they did sounded radio quality Drum solos are mostly a relic of the past, but their guy did one that genuinely impressed, it was unreal... my buddy googled him while it was going on, it turns out his resume is crazy, toured with Vai etc They opened with a megahit, and just kept churning them out the entire set... original members or not, I didnt feel cheated one bit |

Sounds like a good time.
Older bands can still rock it. I have seen Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Rush, and The Cult in the last decade and all have sounded great. Thanks to Risaki from Necronomidol, I got clued in on There There Theres sort of an alt-rock/pop idol group. |

I was at a local used bookstore looking for a biography on Lee when I came across a couple Shakira CDs. They weren't in English, but that didn't stop me. I blasted her second official CD, Donde estan los ladrones, but specifically loved "Octavo Dia," "Si Te Vas," and "Tu." She used to sound so whiny, but in a cute way. Don't speak a lick of Spanish though.

Even if you loathe Sam Bee, give Brandi a chance. Been in love with her voice and style since I first heard her, and this is just as good as she's been.
