I don't think what Al Franken did is anything close to Louis CK's actions.

It's not that I approve of what Al Franken did but kissing a woman is far different than forcing women to watch you jerk off.

ohhh I agree. Big difference between a stage kiss as part of the act for the troops and what happened backstage. Also between masturbation in front of people and child pedophiles.

I guess the point l was trying to make is that not everyone that's going to get swept up into this is going to be a "monster".

Btw, a women came forward today that says George H Bush grabbed her ass during a photo op in the Oval Office.

I spent a semester in Jefferson City and with that time, so went any aspirations I had for public office.

There were maybe 10 State Reps there I left respecting of the 163 in office (and dozens of whom I interacted with). That modicum of power in an area saturated with it led to pretty gross shit all across the board. Many of the people I was there with 15 years ago have ascended to the state Senate or even statewide office.

Politicians end up terrible people. And I'm not convinced they started that way; a couple of the guys I respected the hell out of ended up embroiled in shit a few years later. That environment is just so immersed in scuz that it's virtually impossible to walk away clean.

I can't imagine how rotten DC is.

when that damn breaks it's going to be tsunami on both sides of the aisle. Franken has been an advocate for women's rights his whole life. If he is guilty, many many more on both sides of the aisle I'm sure are guilty. We have known for 1,000's of years that power corrupts people. This is just the latest reminder of that truism.

Yeah. I asked a friend of mine whose opinion I value if he thought anything would actually change in DC and his response was poignant, “nobody gets to that high of position without being crooked.”

I would anticipate that would extend past DC to include many other industries.
