Film Study: Week 17 Chiefs defensive review
Week 17 defensive film review: What we learned about Chiefs’ depth pieces
Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs played a game that had no impact on their standings against the Los Angeles Chargers this week. They had wrapped up the top seed in the AFC, so Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo chose to rest the majority of their key contributors from the 2020 season.
That led to many of the Chiefs' depth pieces getting extended action — or in some cases, their first action — of the season. It was great to see some of these players get to show the coaching staff what they can do with some playing time, and the Chiefs’ front office got a rare late-season look at their depth against some of the Chargers’ starters.
With that in mind, we won’t break down any of Spagnuolo’s tendencies, success rates or any of the numbers from this largely meaningless performance. We also won’t focus on a “bad” component of this week’s game, as this game saw multiple players in different slots — closer to that of a preseason contest.
Instead, we’ll take a look at a couple of good performances, something that you may have missed on Sunday and a wrap-up of this week’s depth contribution.
