That's a lot of coin for Donovan Smith and kind of tough for me to get on board with, but I think it's a possibility.

I just don't think that's realistic. With the entire core of the offensive line coming having their deals coming up, I just can't see this team do nothing to address the future, especially considering the price tag of our impending free agents. I think people better prepare for another 2nd round WR. And drafting three in this draft is a ****ing pipe dream. I get that the talent in there, but the targets are not. Hard to develop a WR when they are not going to get the ball. It feels to me like the Chiefs are locked in on the OTs, and frankly going to shop for IOL stranding in round 3 too. Its not sexy, but its the realty of their situation. |

My only pause is Theo Johnson. Just haven't seen enough of him yet. And personally I wouldn't mind locking up D. Smith. If the training staff signs off on it, it would be nice not worrying about it every off season like we have since 2020. As always great work and its appreciated!

So get D Smith on what is essentially a two year contract and load up on weapons this draft knowing you have the extra third next draft to chase a LT of the future.
I see you working. |

As for justifying the draft, that wasn't my intent though it is a forethought. I've been the strongest proponent for moving up for an LT on this forum. I feel you aren't gaining much over what Smith provides unless you move for one of the top 3 LTs. I really want Fautanu but you have to hope he makes it past New Orleans at 14 before you can start thinking about it. I feel like 16 and 19 are your target spots in this draft as Seattle and Los Angeles tend to be teams that are willing to trade down and they sit before the gauntlet of teams that also need LTs. So, I'm kind of playing off Veach's MO in that he hasn't done this before so why think he will now. That may be a stupid way to go about it, but he had a prime opportunity to take advantage of a really good class a few years ago and he instead traded for Brown. |

Probably a good way to work it. Play to one of the strengths now. There's a lot more RTs than LTs in this year's top group.

I read this morning that folks are hearing Jatavion Sanders is a guy dropping on boards.
If he's there in the late second, we should trade up a bit for him. Testing aside, the guys has a ton of great tape catching the ball. |

I like the D Smith signing, but was hoping we'd bring him in for less. That OL took us to the SB last year so they can't be all that bad! Love that doing so might free us up to take weapons in the draft, I'm just not sure about the OL targets at the bottom of the 1st and personally like the depth guys in he 4-5th as a better solution.
If Worthy becomes the guy we hope he does, awesome! I'm not sure which WR I like tin the draft at this point, there's too many options. I trust Andy and Veach, just try not to Sky Moore this one! |

This prompted me to look at Theo Johnson. He's a solid vertical threat for sure. I didn't see him used often coming across the field but I'm sure this staff could develop him and at worst his straight line speed and contested catch ability could prove useful over the middle. Also I forgot to mention it yesterday, I really like the idea of Brieda in this offense.
