Why did the clock stop after the Williams catch?

Was there any explanation for this?

They didn't think he was touched down, and then he stepped out of bounds.

Looked to me like he was down by contact well before going out of bounds. I kept wondering why the clock stopped.

There was at least three times I saw the play clock hit 0 before the center snap the ball to Philip Rivers.

I made notes of it in GDT

To be fair one was the Honey Badger Interception but yes it seems the LA teams get away with delay of game/false start penalties a ton.

This has been going on all season across the NFL. Either the clock that they show on television is not synchronized with the clock on the field or the officials have just gotten worse over the last 30 years.

My eyes tell me the latter.

the official sees the clock at 0 then looks at the ball, if it is snapped or being snapped then they call it. They were close all night, but the only true -01 was probably on the badgers pick... thank god they swallowed the whistle there.

Thankfully, one of those happened before the pick by honey badger. The chiefs were fortunate they did not call that particular penalty.

Refs ****ing suck. BUT our defenders need to learn to put two obvious hands on the guy just to make sure. They do this stuff a lot - barely touching guys down and just wandering away from the play.

Yeah I’m that case he should be dragging the guy away from the sideline.
