First of all, was the captain drunk? And was that bridge made from paper mache? Looks weak as piss.

Container ships weigh twice as much as an aircraft carrier. A little trestle commuter bridge has no chance. And the captain of the vessel is supposed to have the harbor, harbor currents, and shipping lanes memorized. This shit boggles the mind.

That bridge is the only way to bypass Baltimore if you are traveling north or south. |

Not entirely true. It is a loop. You can go West instead of East on the loop to bypass Baltimore, but it will heavily increase traffic on an already-strained, construction-laden I-95 with only half of a loop to bypass.

There seemed to be a lot more cars on the highway just before it hit, Dont see a lot of cars headlights on the bridge as it gets hit.
If that happened in rush hour.... been hundreds go into that freezing water if they survive the fall. |

There were several times when vehicles started on to the bridge, and I was thinking "oh shit, they are not going to make it"! Hopefully the construction crew numbers were low. |

Crazy shit. If the fall doesn't kill the folks, falling into all sorts of twisted metal certainly will. |
