Offseason additions outside of the draft
Not a good thread for the lounge yet, still some season to go but thought it would be an interesting idea here.
Yeah, we have the draft and free agency but one place you can make some hay is trading picks for guys on other teams obviously. But more directly, from teams that have decided to blow up the coaching staff and front office and make system changes. So guys that maybe don't necessarily fit the new style of defense or what not. It looks like the Cardinals and the Jets are going full on meltdown rebuild. The 9ers may fire their DC and make some changes there. Who is everyone looking at in these situations, player wise? One big name for me from the Jets would be Leonard Williams. High pick that's maybe underwhelmed a bit that would be a great fit here. |

I'd still be looking at taking a shot at Hassan Reddick from the Cardinals.

I don’t see them getting rid of Williams and even if they did, he’s almost due for a payday.

Free agents you see alot of in my mocks and I might comment more there later but just thought I'd throw out some possible trade targets.
DT Robert Nkemdiche (ARZ) - Didn't do shit his first 2 years in the league as a 1st round pick but seems to be turning it on now. He is going into his final year of his deal but has that option year. If the Cards don't feel he's progressed fast enough or to a good enough level, he'd be a nice "reclamation project" of sorts. CB Patrick Peterson (ARZ) - I don't believe the trade winds have stopped blowing on him. He has two pretty solid years from a cap perspective left on his deal and would net them a decent draft pick. CB A.J. Bouye (JAX) - Could save the Jags 9.5m against this year's cap and would transfer over 13.0m per season for the next 3 seasons if traded. He's 27 and one of the better CBs in the NFL. DE Malik Jackson (JAX) - Could save the Jags 11.0m against the cap and would transfer over 13.0m next year and then 13.75m per season for the next 2 seasons. He's 28. DE/OLB Noah Spence (TB) - Won't save the Bucs much, just 1.27m, but he's a big reclamation project at this point. He had 5.5 sacks his rookie year but was injured his first 2 seasons and really hasn't seen the field much in year 2 and 3. He has a cheap year left before his option year and could be worth a conditional 7th rounder in a future year to see if he can be turned around. OC Jason Kelce (PHI) - Would save Philadelphia 6.5m against the cap. One of the better centers in the NFL, he's 31 and carries cap charges of 6.5 and 7.0m over the next 2 seasons. |

Sign me up for A.J. Bouye all ****ing day.
That would give us a TON more draft flexibility by adding a proven #1 corner ahead of time. If you can somehow swing him and Earl Thomas both, you’ve got an awesome secondary on your hands. All of this pending the dismissal of Bob Sutton. |

I think Peterson is definitely elsewhere next year
Bouye is an interesting name but I’m guessing they end up moving Ramsey instead as it doesn’t seem they wanna pay him. He’s a mouth but damn he’s good. The chiefs could move a pick for him and Peterson and sign Thomas. Hingo |

You know who would be a great fit here that probably wouldn’t cost much? Cordarelle Patterson.
He’s making $3.25 million this season. With Conley leaving (I think he’ll make some nice $$ in FA) and Watkins being made of glass, it would be great to get this guy for a 2 year deal paying him an avg of 5 or so million a year. |

I’d flip a 5th to the cowboys for Sean Lee and hope he could stay healthy

Ronald Darby and Bashaud Breeland are both free agents In the offseason and I would be inclined to bring them in. They are both experienced and shouldn't cost too much I'd imagine. And of course, it will be interesting to see what the Giants do with Landon Collins. He's set to be a free agent himself.

I think, obviously, the biggest thing is they've gotta hit on some defensive draft picks.
They've got the ammo to probably trade for someone if they wanted though. |
