I don't think I like that but I'm not 100% sure I'm that worried either.

The Chargers cap sheet is a shitshow. Their roster has aged like vinegar. They're going to need a pretty substantial ground-up rebuild in fairly short order. Their talent is kinda out of sync and they've still not ever accomplished enough to get to the 'knock on the door before you kick it in' stage.

But they're gonna win their 10th consecutive Offseason Championship again, that's for damn sure.

Exactly. Great hire, but that roster and cap situation is a mess, and a good HC isn't going to change the fact that Herbert never seems to get it done when it matters most.

It also doesn't help that Harbaugh probably demanded control of personnel. That never seems to work out long term.

Not ideal, but they're the Chargers so they'll probably still wallow in mediocrity.

I will never like any divisional rival getting a good coach no matter who it is. I don't like that they have a good young QB to go with that coach either.

Their cap issues are overblown. They're $45 million in the hole and get $37 million alone for Corey Linsley (he's retiring) and cutting Keenan Allen

According to overthecap.com, LAC will have $87 million in cap space in 2025. They'll be out of the woods by the end of next season.

I think they'll be okay really. They'll have to bring in some mercs in 2025, but they'll pick players that'll actually be good with Harbaugh running things.

The AFC-W just got that much tougher. Which I'm fine with; just didn't see Harbaugh taking this particular job.

And what's that roster going to look like by then?

Herbert, Slater, Asante Samuel Jr (on new deals) and the broken husks of Bosa and James? You think Quentin Johnston is going to save the day for them?

They have a big job ahead of them.

Is there anyone that can say with any reasonable certainty what their roster is going to look like two seasons from now? If you can, I'd like to see that.

I'm just saying that They have the QB and now the coach. Harbaugh's been here before; he'll salvage what he can from the roster and trade/replace everyone else with quality players. It'll take some time, but eventually LAC is going to be a much tougher out than they were the last half-decade or whatever.

And it appears that they'll be able to begin that process in earnest in 2025.

Well shit. Though as DJ says it might be awhile before they become a problem. But I really didn't think Spanos would offer him enough $$$.
