ESPN: Mahomes the 18th best athlete of the 21st Century

https://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id...s-21st-century

1. Michael Phelps
2. Serena Williams
3. Lionel Messi
4. Lebron
5. Mr. 18-1 Tom Brady
6. Roger Federer
7. Simone Biles
8. Tiger Woods...
18. Patrick Mahomes

Quote:
In the end, we received more than 70,000 votes from ESPN contributors to create our top 100. We will reveal 25 athletes every day this week until we reach our No. 1 athlete of the 21st century.
I would have ranked Mahomes a bit higher, perhaps in the top 15. Also hilarious that Brady couldn't even manage to crack the top 3.

Christian Pulisic should be at least top 10. He's the LeBron James of soccer.

I once went through a list of the greatest Irish sporting achievements and came to the conclusion that the horse Red Rum is that country's greatest ever sports star.

Yeah, I mean, still incredible to be ranked that high against athletes who have already finished their career. Has way more to do with it than anything. Not too surprised Brady isn't top 3. Individual sport athletes will always stand out over team players who have to be equally good at leadership and playing within a team.

They included Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform. That's pretty funny.

It feels weird to do this list 1/4 of the way through the century. The #1 athlete probably hasn't been born yet.

Golfers aren't ****ing athletes. They're glorified shuffleboard players.

This! It's really difficult to play the game at the highest level but being able to walk a 18 hole course. What's that? 3-4 miles tops. Everyone of us can hit a golf ball. Just because they are the best in the world at hitting that ball, its still not an "athletic" feat.

sure but that speaks to why tiger is maybe lower on the list. And if there was ever a golfer who could qualify as an athlete, tiger would be it.

Wrong on so many levels. It's an extremely mental game without question, but that has to be accompanied by physical talent fused to the mental part with nano seconds margin of error.

Saying you can hit a golf ball is like me saying I can throw a football or kick a soccer ball. So what!
