KANSAS CITY, Mo. - KSHB-TV, Kansas City's 41 Action News station, announced Thursday that sports director Jack Harry will retire on June 30, 2015. Harry has been covering sports in Kansas City for more than 40 years. Jack, who was named sports director at KSHB in 2002, has been a dedicated and valuable part of the station and the Kansas City community. He has won numerous awards for quality broadcast journalism, having been inducted as a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mid-America Chapter’s Silver Circle in 2011.

“Jack has been a staple in this city for a long time. His knowledge and passion for Kansas City sports will be missed,” said Carrie Hofmann, KSHB news director.

In addition, the station announced Frank Boal will assume the role of 41 Action News sports director. Frank has been with KSHB since 2010 after spending the previous 28 years at WDAF-TV. Dee Jackson was named weekend sports anchor.

Jackson has been part of the 41 Action News sports team since 2013. Both Jackson and Boal begin their new roles on July 1, 2015.

About KSHB-TV & Scripps

KSHB-TV is owned by The E.W. Scripps Company. The E.W. Scripps Company serves audiences and businesses through a growing portfolio of television, radio and digital media brands. Scripps is one of the nation’s largest independent TV station owners, with 33 television stations in 24 markets and a reach of nearly one in five U.S. households.

It also owns 34 radio stations in eight markets. When Scripps and the former Journal Communications merged their broadcast assets in early 2015, they also spun off their respective newspapers, creating a new public company, Journal Media Group.

Scripps also runs an expanding collection of local and national digital journalism and information businesses, including mobile video news service Newsy and weather app developer WeatherSphere. Scripps also produces television shows including The List and The Now, runs an award-winning investigative reporting newsroom in Washington, D.C., and serves as the long-time steward of the nation’s largest, most successful and longest-running educational program, the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Founded in 1878, Scripps has held for decades to the motto, “Give light and the people will find their own way.”
