Greg Rosenthal's worst contracts of free agency so far, guess who is first?

Thuney's signing this offseason only seemed to prevent the Chiefs from going the extra mile in their pursuit of Williams, who ended up sticking in San Francisco.
Meh. Not sure it would've made that much of a difference regarding the price we were willing to pay. |

We were never going to get Williams
The Niners would have and did do everything to keep him |

Giving Thuney a massive contract seemed to be a shift in organizational philosophy. Reid has always placed a premium at the T position and had a bunch of 7th rd/UDFA types on the interior.

I think a lot of concern, in the media as well as here, might actually just be misplaced. It's entirely possible that after the SB, the Chiefs decided to change directions and we're all still framing it based on our understanding of the previous approach. |

And I'll say it right now:
It's looking more and more likely that Superturtle was right and doesn't even know the extent to which he was. The Chiefs appear to be COMPLETELY remaking the offensive line, not just in personnel but in philosophy as well. |

Did not realistically think they'd actually go to this extent, no.

Interesting. I'm well aware of the personnel changes, but what about the new philosophy?

I don't think the contract was that Massive, in fact in 2023,24 and 25 it will look like a bargain if he stays healthy. He is 28 and has barely missed any snaps, he's top 3 in his position, and is making 5-7 million less than the top Offensive Tackles. This was a good smart signing.

Look at the guards they've had said Andy has been here. I think the Osemele signing last year showed a subtle shift in philosophy and now the Thuney signing obviously shows they value guards much more than the appeared to in the past.

There was an article out there that had him (Williams) stating that his #1 destination was and IS SF. He was definitely playing us all along. IMO

Gotcha, I was thinking more about in-game philosophy, as opposed to positional priorities.
