I just watched three episodes and am really enjoying it. I had no knowledge of the plot going in and just tried it because of the hype. What I've liked the most about it so far is it gives you lots of questions and intrigue, almost like a sci-fi LOST, but it keeps giving answers as well and asking new questions at a steady clip. It definitely has that "just one more episode" vibe.

I tried reading the books a few times over the last few years and couldn't ever get enough momentum. I haven't tried the show yet. I hope it's good

There's actually an older series version on Prime. It's incredibly long and all subtitles. But I watched that previously. It's a really cool plot.
Half way through this series. This version has better pacing and is overall much more professional. Fun watch so far. |

Just started it; somewhat confusing and a little hard to follow jumping between different times.
Not going to spoil it however the 2nd episode ends with something I believe to be true... |

Finished up this inaugural season - and I enjoyed it. It isn't a groundbreaking cinematic masterpiece or anything like that - but it is entertaining. You know that there are going to be some liberties taken when all the scientists are young and hot. Having made my living in the science end of manufacturing - I can tell you that hot scientists are a very rare thing. As with all science fiction, the laws of physics are going to be fudged for the sake of storytelling. Impossible things will happen.
Anyway, I was disappointed that all the storylines were not completed when the season came to an end. I really wanted to see how the aliens interacted with the 'human' that was rocketed in their direction. I will tune in for the next installment. Great? No. Good? Yep. |

90% of the public doesn't know the science is BS anyway. Is it used in service of a good story? Do you like the characters? Does it do something new? |

It felt like they ran out of money about halfway through the season and decided to ax all of the really cool special effects. It was an "OK" series; I'm hoping the next season picks up a bit; the series started really strong but just kind of tailed off there at the end.

Episode 6. Waiting on the shamalon switch that aliens were us and speeding up our evolution to survive.
Or. As soon as we figured out they are killing all the scientists the world's evolution to tech would skyrocket as the nations of the world would unite to fight an alien threat. Or maybe the aliens do lie and they will be here in a 100 years. |

Finished. The biggest plot hole for me. If the aliens have access to multi dimensions and made the proton computers. They could have fixed the orbits of their suns.

I enjoyed it, except for the excruciating chimp scene. If you don't have the CG budget to make a believable-looking animal, maybe just cut the scene that focuses entirely on that animal. Or, just use a real chimp?
Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure why they thought the audience needed so much explanation about cryo sleep, as that has been used as a plot device in quite a few sci-fi movies and shows now. |
