Also, Brady has not always taken serious discounts. He was the top paid player at a point in time.

But Belichick has always been willing to make the tough call in letting guys go who wasn't willing to pay. Pats fans were pissed, but he didn't care. That both lets you spend more on the middle class, and get comp picks.
