I'm not chiding the people who didn't like the hire because we all live in glass houses on this forum.

However, I will say that if you didn't like the hire because he had bad defenses in St. Louis and the second stint with the Giants... well, that was a bit short-sighted. Don't know what to tell you. You need good players to play good defense. People point to the job Flores is doing in Minnesota with their defensive turnaround, but just look at the goddamn free agents they brought in and how every single one of them is playing well. Yeah, part of that is Flores, but they don't see that kind of defensive efficiency if they're bringing in randos like Glenn Cadrez and Ray Crockett.

My whole thing was I thought it was kind of a crap year to pick a new defensive coordinator, but Spags was probably as good as anybody, and I for sure thought he was an upgrade over Sutton.

Yeah the DT-Phillips-Saleaumua-Smith glory days with Gunther as DC. Nobody could run on us.

I don't think anyone even realizes how great this run defense is right now.

The Saints had 35 yards rushing before their backup QB came in the game.

THIRTY FIVE.

In a game that was close most of the night.

Teams used to get 35 yards rushing on us in ONE DRIVE.

Saw a KCSN post that the Chiefs D hasn't allowed a 300 yard passer since the super bowl,, against the Eagles.

Do we thank Dee Ford?

I’m not positive Sutton leaves if we pick Brady 3 times to go to the Super Bowl.

Which Chiefs fan lived in an alternate reality where they got the red and blue pill?

Blue pill: Mahomes beats Brady, but we retain Sutton, and never win a title again.

Red pill: Mahomes never beats Brady in the playoffs, but we fire Sutton and get a dynasty.

It’s absolutely wild that we ended up not only with an elite DC but one who has done enough rounds in the head coaching circuit that teams arent as aggressive or he can be ultra picky. It’s just crazy to be living through a dynasty
