They cared nothing about Hamlin. They were more than happy to make him a paranoid, drug-using, prostitution-hiring, abusive, compromised lawyer that can't do his job.
He called them out on it, nailed it to a T, and they still denied it, implying that he was drunk.
Only when the consequences of their own actions arrived, did they decide to do the right thing and try to make him leave.
