Like the taste of A-1 all right, just seems to ruin steak. Ruin is too tough a word, . . . debase. It debases a steak. Same for most 'steak sauces'

Ketchup is weird. I've gotten to where I hate ketchup most anywhere, even on fries now that dipping sauces and spicy mustards and malt vinegar and all the other superior fry dips are widely available. But I still LOVE it on two things

I'm not a big fan of creamy horseradish but then again, I grew up on the real stuff. My dad still grinds it to this day and it's the best right out of the ground. Not a fan of cheese on a steak, especially stuff that is moldy on purpose and smells like socks.
I specifically mentioned A1 because even though I wouldn't use it on a GOOD steak, it's worthy of a cheap steak. I prefer to use it with beef roast myself (not the sliced kind but the crock pot kind). I cannot stand Heinz 57. It's just awful.
