"Now let's talk about the doubly named M&Ms candy.
"American M&Ms were invented in 1941, being essentially a ripoff of an earlier British candy. During their first years, M&Ms were available only through the military as a means to provide non-melting chocolate to soldiers.
"After a few years of becoming available to the public, peanut M&Ms became available in 1954, only in the tan color for the first six years of existence. The next new flavor took another 37 years, with peanut butter M&Ms coming available in 1991.
"If you remember purple plain M&Ms, you either bought them before 1950 or during a one-year release in the early 2000s.
"Almost all M&Ms are produced in New Jersey and Tennessee."
