It's worked beautifully for the Rockies - so well, in fact, that the owner has very little incentive to invest in the team because so many people head down to the area just to have a good time, and the game is kind of secondary.  |
Do the Rockies ownership also own the real estate near the ballpark?
It was definitely a good choice to have Coors Field at that location, but it was a situation where the expansion franchise was awarded with the idea that games at Mile High was temporary and new park would be built.
Seems to me Royals fielding a competitive middle of the pack payroll team is better way to stay sustainable.
