The Cowboys are kings in the state of Texas. The founding of the Texans franchise has done very little to change that. The Texans have a fan base that is pretty much restricted to the area around Houston. That's not to say that it's really small, but in general the people in the state prefer the Cowboys. So, a new franchise a couple hundred miles away from the the Cowboys should have attracted a lot more fans if the proximity to the team was a driving factor, but it didn't. Therefore, I contend that putting a second franchise in Dallas would be a very difficult prospect for that franchise because the people that like football there like the Cowboys and they aren't going to change.
