Hicks has always been a guy for whom the whole is much, much less than the sum of the parts. Guys obviously don't have a problem seeing the ball out of his hand, otherwise, a two-seamer with that much velocity and movement wouldn't so consistently be put in play, and his breaking pitches have never been more than ordinary.
