KU Med is now full on their ICU beds. They will be cutting surgeries in half to start and any non essential cases needing icu care look like they won’t be happening. They survived, with loans, after the spring shut downs which turned out to not be necessary, but it’s unlikely they can survive layoffs and furloughs without decent amounts of surgeries any length of time moving forward. It was always assumed cases would worsen in the winter yet all semblance of concern for activities and large gatherings that contribute just sort of went away, no doubt expediting the process.
