Another thought on the 3rd vs 4th place game, which there would be 8, play them in a destination that people would want to go for warmer weather. Florida, Louisiana. Arizona, Nevada, California. People go to bowl games to watch 6-6 teams play.
I like idea of keeping 16 game stats. This way NFL gets another playoff game without calling it a playoff game.
