This whole thing has been a fiasco of conflicting information

The sports media has been using the Cowboys as a content mine for Jerrah's entire tenure. When they don't have anything to talk about, they'll talk about the Cowboys.

And when the Cowboys have anything worth talking about, they'll REALLY talk about the Cowboys.

So in lieu of complete information, you're gonna get anything they hear from anybody just as quickly as they hear it. This is just what happens when the Cowboys are actually part of the news cycle (as opposed to their ordinary practice of being irrelevant but forced into the news cycle anyway...)
